Time to make a FAMILY CAVE in that basement you’ve been putting off finishing!
Well the basement used to just be a man/woman cave – then an indoor cement park for children- or just a storage area, but usually unfinished and cold. But it’s a new day and remodeling can change that!!!
The reason I picked this topic is we’ve had a lot of inquiries about finishing off basements lately. People are looking to make a play area for the kids and also an adult space to entertain. I think the idea of having your kids in a safe play area with a soft carpet (especially the young ones) where you can keep an eye on them and be comfortable is one of the big draws to finish it off!
And for the older children a game room where they can have friends over and you can keep an eye on them isn’t a bad idea either haha! (you know what I mean 🙂
On the other hand…
…the other big draw is people are entertaining more at home now than ever. They’re looking to make a small part of the basement an adult area HAHA so to speak!
Smaller Home wet bars for entertaining on the weekend, built in cabinets for storage and a place for the big screen TV that they always wanted but was to big for the upstairs!
Extra rooms for organizing the stuff that used to litter the basement. NOTE: people don’t always finish off all the rooms, usually the storage room has simple wood shelves to hold all those totes that you so nicely organized. If space allows another finished room for guests. Just another way to think when you are trying to cut some costs to get what you really want done in the basement!
And last but not least another bathroom for those who only have one or want to redo the one downstairs. Another way to cut some cost and afford the remodel is not going so fancy in the basement bathroom, there are some great options that look amazing!

Another thing to remember is everyone knows a finished basement is a major plus when searching for a new home. Lower level finishing can add major appeal to your home when it’s time to sell.
